If you haven’t heard yet, let me be the first to tell you… Stitch Fix has officially launched Petites and Maternity! This is really exciting news. I love this service and all the clothes I’ve received, so I’m happy that more women of different sizes can experience it now too. Unfortunately, they don’t have Plus Size yet. I’m sure they’ve had a lot of requests for that (and probably even more so now with this launch). I don’t know the business or what it takes to make that happen but I hope they’re able to do it sometime in the near future. But this expansion is still a step in the right direction!
Maternity is especially exciting. It’s a time in a woman’s life where we can really struggle to look and feel our best. As the baby weight piles on, and our figures dramatically change shape, it can be hard to dress in a flattering way. Pregnancy is such a beautiful thing…growing another life inside our bodies. We shouldn’t have to sacrifice looking great, even for 9 months. We should be able to wear clothes that show off that bump, and enhance our new beautiful life-growing body! So, yay Stitch Fix Maternity!
Ok, about this launch party thing. I received an email about a month or so ago with the invitation to a secret launch party for Stitch Fix and Club MomMe. At first, I thought it might be a joke. I even forwarded the email to my husband so he could check to see if it was spam. I had no idea how or why I got invited, but I was pretty excited and RSVP’d “yes” immediately. We didn’t find out what the “secret” was until the morning of the event, when it was announced publicly. Once that happened, I was finally convinced that this party was legit and not a joke.
The whole family was invited so we got to the city early, walked around for a bit and got dinner. Here are the kids, just hanging out on a chilly afternoon in San Francisco.
When we got to Stitch Fix headquarters, I checked in and found out for sure why I was there. They asked, “Are you with one of the organizations or a blog?” “Um, blog! klgmom.com.” Yay! Inside I was kind of giddy. Stitch Fix knows who I am…and they know my blog. What?! (Hi Stitch Fix!)
I felt so honored and humbled to be there surrounded by other mom bloggers and Stitch Fix employees…at Stitch Fix Headquarters! It was a little intimidating and so I mostly hid behind my camera the whole time. I did grab a drink and chat with some ladies for a bit though, don’t worry. I wasn’t a complete loner. They had a great play area for the kids where Gwen spent most of her time. And Ivor hung out with little Ivor.
We were there pretty early and for awhile my boys were the only guys in the room. I turned to Ivor and said “Well…looks like I’m the only one who brought a husband! Sorry babe.” But eventually another adorable family of 4 showed up and they were excited to see another “dad with a baby” in the room. The mom’s name was Allison and she brought her husband, daughter and teeny tiny baby boy. I didn’t realize who she was until after we left the party. Buzzfeed wrote an article about her. She has 15.5K followers on instagram (@lifeasallison). And I was in the same room as her, there for the same reason as her? Seriously Stitch Fix, did you mean to invite ME? Are you sure? Well, too late now. I was there and have the pictures to prove it 🙂
Another cool moment was being welcomed by Katrina Lake, Founder and CEO of Stitch Fix. She was so sweet and so happy that we were to celebrate this launch with them. She talked about the humble beginnings of the company and how far they’ve come in such a short amount of time. I’m kicking myself for not introducing myself to her or getting a picture with her! But here she is.
They had yummy appetizers, a bar with cocktails and mocktails (for the pregnant ladies in the room). A sampling from Fresh Baby Bites. Giveaway items from 4moms . And lots of new petite and maternity clothing on display for us to check out.
Overall, it was a great evening. Lots of adorable outfits worn. I may or may not have been scanning the room thinking “I need to request that top in my next fix!” Speaking of, here’s what I wore:
That’s the Kieraly Dot Print Short Sleeve Blouse from my last fix, and the Mavi Aiden Jeans from fix #6. Mustard cardigan from Target. Lucky brand flats that I got with a gift card from somewhere. Owl necklace from Becky Hagerty (I think?) 🙂
Anyway, thank you Stitch Fix for a lovely evening and for accommodating my whole family, including my PJ wearing daughter who ran around like she owned the place. She did have an adorable outfit on that she ruined when we first arrived. Since the event was going to go past her bedtime, all I had were PJ’s to change the kids into for the car ride home. And so…Gwen rocked her jammies at the Stitch Fix party. She received many compliments 🙂
