Ladies and gentlemen, we have a WINNER! Stitch Fix #6 is my favorite box yet. And I”m 99% sure I’m keeping all 5 items. Unless someone comments “Omg, that looks HORRIBLE on you!” Even so, I’ll probably ignore you and keep it anyway.
To review, here are all of my previous fixes:
After the last box, I was a little discouraged that they were getting farther away from what I wanted/needed in my wardrobe. But with this box, they have totally redeemed themselves! I wrote in my note “ok, enough with the blousey fancy fabrics and weird things I don’t like. I want casual, comfy clothes that I can chase kids around in” (partially paraphrased). After sending that note, I was a little worried that might translate into “send me boring clothes”. But thankfully, my stylist read between the lines:
“Just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you need to look like one.” Yes. Thank you, Tracy.
Just look at those super comfy, but still fashionable clothes! I was so excited to try these on. And Ivor happened to be home today so he took the pictures, which means my face is in them. Please excuse my out of control hair and eyeliner-free face (although this is the most put together I’ve looked all week).
Item #1 and #2: Dorina Crochet Back Dolman Top and Aiden Skinny Jean
This is the top that my stylist said is more loose fitting (which I’ve mentioned that I don’t like). BUT, I’m making an exception for this one. It is loose, yes. But I wouldn’t call it “oversized”. And that crochet detail on the back? Gorgeous! I have to wear my hair up when I wear this so people can see it! The only con is that it’s a “dry clean only” top (which I’ve told them to stop sending me). But dangit I like it too much to send back. I’ll make it work. I’ll just never wash it 😉
And those jeans….I may never take off. In fact, I’m still wearing them now. With the tags on. They fit perfectly and are ridiculously comfortable. They are mine forever.
Item #3: Alan Cowl Neck Asymmetrical Cardigan
I was really excited about this one! It’s been on my pinterest board for awhile now and I was hoping it would show up in a box eventually. Today was the day! I was not disappointed. The fabric is soft and warm. I love that it can be worn open, partially zipped, or fully zipped. I love the tan color (yay neutrals) and I love the cowl neck. Also, the asymmetrical thing is very cool and flattering I think. All-around winner, this one.
Item #4: Jemdy Striped Dolman Sleeve Jersey Top
Obviously the dolman style shirt is slightly out of my comfort zone, with the looseness and webbed armpit thing. But the style has really grown on me over the past few months (as I’ve seen so many other people wear it). What I really like about this one though, is that it’s fitted at the bottom. So for me that makes it more flattering and more “me”. And even though I’m still getting used to how it feels on (I feel like I’m wearing it wrong for some reason), it always looks good in the mirror and in the pictures.
and finally, Item #5: Elvina Embroidery Detail Pocket Front Top:
So if there’s one “plain jane” item in the whole box, this would be it. HOWEVER, what doesn’t translate into pictures is how soft this fabric is. It’s so comfortable and I love the way it fits me. It’s something I will wear often, wrangling my kids, running errands, etc. And it does have the embroidery detail to give it a little something extra. I have Native American roots and the embroidery reminds me a bit of that. This is another “dry clean only” top (what the crap Stitch Fix??) but again….I just like it too much to care.
There you have it! My first perfect 5/5 box. And I’m really pleased with the final price of everything with the “buy 5” discount. I ended up saving $90 total, which includes the $20 styling fee credit. AND this was one of the more affordable boxes I’ve received. So this was definitely the box to keep.
Well done, Tracy from Stitch Fix. Well done.
