Stitch Fix #5

Stitch Fix #5 has arrived, and sadly…I am underwhelmed with this one. I’m not giving up on Stitch Fix- I’ve received some really great pieces that I’ve been wearing a lot, but I think I need to start getting even more specific with my requests. I want to get  closer to keeping an entire box, not farther away.

Anyway, here’s what I got this month and my thoughts. Let me know what you think! Other opinions might change my mind about some things, who knows 🙂

Items 1 & 2: Wynn Ikat Print Front Pocket Blouse/Sophia Skinny Jeans

Starting off with the best of the box. This was my favorite top. I love ALMOST everything about it. It’s a flattering cut, great color and print. I love the roll-up button sleeves. But those chest pockets….I just don’t know about them. If they weren’t there, this would be a no-brainer keeper for me. What do you think? Am I being too picky about it? Is it that noticeable? Does it add some visual interest, or is it just weird? And I’m wearing the Sophia Skinny Jeans in that first picture. I’m probably keeping those because I really need jeans. They’re a medium-dark wash, even though they look black in this picture (thanks to horrible bathroom lighting). They don’t fit like a glove though. They’re just a TAD loose. But maybe after a few wash/dry cycles they will fit perfectly?

Item 3:  Kassidy Open Lattice Detail Tank

Sigh. I’m not sure what in my style profile, pinterest board or note saying “Hey, mom of 2 here, looking for casual on-the-go pieces”  made my stylist think I’d like this. If I were in a rock band or something, maybe I’d wear this top on stage . But that’s a weird location for the “open lattice” thing. If it were at the top of the blouse, maybe. But mid-section? No. Fail. The only thing I liked about this top is the back (which is not pictured). It had a cool button closure at the top and a scoop back.

Item 4:  Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan

I asked for a neutral cardigan, and this certainly is. Great quality, well-made. Super soft and warm. I like the cream color. But I’m not crazy about the overall style/cut. I don’t think it’s very flattering on me. When I did my sneak peek at what was coming, I saw a picture of it on another person and didn’t think it was flattering on her either. I think it’s the super straight across hemline. Meh. Bummer. I really need a good cardigan. We’ll try again next month.

Item 5: Walden Floral Print Zipper Detail Blouse

I keep requesting casual tops to go with my red pants and so far we’re striking out. I keep getting blue, blousy tanks (which isn’t really what I had in mind). This is what I got this time. Not horrible. But the fabric feels really cheap (it is the cheapest item in the box). I don’t love it and I don’t want to keep it JUST because it goes with the pants. Also, it’s winter. Why do they keep sending me tanks? Yes, I know it’s California and it was like 72 degrees yesterday, but can I at least pretend I still live in PA and get some more sweaters? 🙂

What do you think? Right now all I’m thinking about keeping is the skinny jeans and the first “pocket” blouse.
